How-to-Tuesdsay: Labeling the Candy Jars

20 Nov

A chic little candy buffet looks complete with perfectly hung tags ~ but wrangling them into place can be tricky.  Here are some of my go-to ways that work with a variety of containers.

1. THE FRONT KNOT - a neat, tidy look that keeps tags flat. Hole punch the tag and bring both ends of the ribbon through the hole.  Then knot or make a bow!
2. AROUND THE KNOB - For covered containers like apothecary jars, a quick bow around the knob is easy!
3. RIBBON LOOP - To give some variety, another option with a lidded jar is to cross the ribbon around the knob (think awareness-ribbon style) Secure the ribbon and label with a piece of double-stick tape.
4. SIDE SLIP THRU - Make a small slice at either end of your label and slip through the ribbon. Use a bit of double stick tape to hide one end under the other for a seamless look, or tie off with a bow. For a twist, swing the bow around to one side of the label.
5. TOP SLIP THRU - Heavier ribbon hangs nicely works better here. Slip the ribbon through slices similar to above only vertically.  Stick a little excess ribbon into the jar and weigh down with candy, or a touch of tape to the inside of the glass works.
6. THE BASIC - The most simple technique is threading a ribbon through a hole punched tag and tying around the back of the jar.  A head's up with this method that sometimes making tags lay flat takes some tweaking!   XOXO

A Damask Print for A Baby Girl’s Shower

My latest pattern on Etsy is a delicate feminine damask print perfect for a shower!  Laura is throwing this one for a dear friend of hers and settle on these Thank You stickies with matching stripes tags for the candy bar vases.  This new Speciality Patterns listing allows you to fully customize by picking your pattern (lattice, bamboo, or damask) as well as the plaque. Laura chose the 'cute curvy' to display the text.  Thanks Laura!

Candy Buffets Tags Completed the Look!

4 Feb

Candy Buffet Bar Striped Tags Tags are a great addition to the jars or vases at your Candy Buffet /Bar. It's a simple detail but keeps your color theme going and adds that finishing! And they tell your guests exactly what sweet treats await them!

This Etsy Listing is for a Set of 12 Round Hole-Punched Tags. Just send me the text! Don't have 12? You'll still receive the leftovers and can use them for whatever you'd like.

Jennifer chose a teal and eggplant stripe combo to go with her Peacock Feather theme.  Jocelyn picked a coral pinstripe for her candy bar.  Natisha used the tags with coordinating stickers and a matching Candy Buffet Menu. And Taryn is setting up a candy bar for Calyn's First Birthday!  Thanks ladies!

What I Did This Weekend…Ate All the Candy from the Photo Shoot!

26 Oct

Living room update on hold as I wait for one more delivery!  So this weekend I caught up on another project. Am rolling out another product on Etsy…yes, moving from the world of Stickers to Hole Punched TAGS! Are you as excited as me??  Regardless, as I thought about promoting my newest listing on Etsy I knew I needed some great photos.  I wanted to create a Wedding Candy Buffet with hanging tags on all of the jars.   NO, I am not over candy buffets. (see old post) I wish I could use them everywhere…would it be strange to have a candy buffet at your Thanksgiving Feast? It looked SO.DARN. CUTE!!!

Just as I was wrapping up, (and ready to DEVOUR the yogurt covered pretzels)  it occurred to me that the color choices would work GREAT for a Baby Shower.  Am not hosting one anytime soon but just in case you are…

The Infamous Wedding Candy Bar…Brought to your Home…

16 Jul

Candy Bars and Dessert Tables at weddings are still getting big play. So why not do it for your next cocktail party, kids birthday, bridal shower etc.  I LOVE them for 3 reasons:Sweet Sanity - The Wedding Candy Bar / Dessert Table

A Party Focus...When its all set up it just looks so cute! And can make classy events feel more inviting. The bar doubles as party decor as well, bringing home the almighty 'theme'.
Offer Variety... I like lots of options, but that's major work. Are you really going to make 10 desserts?  (If so please quietly exit this blog.) Get variety by using store bought candies and cookies but make it look so unique and special no one cares.
Give the people what they want...Sometimes an intricate dessert is lovely, but it's also fun to indulge in the old school stuff you deprive yourself of. I have seen a grown man go crazy over malt balls.

Pulling It Together Tips:

Vessels - Troll around for whatever you've already got. Vases, glasses, and don't be afraid of containers not typically for food. I have no idea what I'm really supposed to do with the big silver thingy above.
Color Scheme - It can come from the candies or the vessels, or a little of both.  Here I did browns and metallics using chocolate/gold candies and silver/glass vessels.  Monochromatic always works, too.
Be A Copy Cat - Amy Atlas is a Dessert Table God. Get inspiration from the glamorous setups and do it on a mini-scale! Please spin through through her PORTFOLIO GALLERY - un.real.
